Тут все примерно то же самое, что и в других местах - "Gilroy said he complained to his employer several times...", только непонятно с чего вдруг оказались добавлены слова "but it did nothing because he was Muslim." Точнее - понятно с чего вдруг, но уважительной причиной это не является.
