I recently heard tell of a brilliant New Zealand physicist at Oxford who wanted to stay, partly because he loves cricket, but has had to go to Stanford because it is just too hard to get a visa to stay here
This is exactly the type of polite bullshit people tell the losing party so that they don't get too much upset about getting the shaft. The fact that Matt Ridley uses this kind of BS instead of real arguments shows that being a popular science writer doesn't make one a scientist. When we look through his BS we see that university areas, including Oxford and Cambridge, overwhelmingly voted Remain.
I hope when you make medical decisions you rely on data rather than anecdotes from popular media figures.
