Nov. 26th, 2016 09:02 pmО еще одном эпическом фейле государственного вмешательства в повседневную жизнь. Надеюсь, республиканцы похерят эту монополию.

Nov. 26th, 2016 09:22 pmFidel Castro was a monstrous tyrant. History will not be kind to him, regardless of the over-the-top praises he will receive in death from ignorant presidents and loudmouths who think that by commenting about Castro's death they are somehow tying themselves to a distinguished legacy. Fidel Castro leaves behind a country ruined by his destructive economic policies (for which he was never held accountable because he could falsely blame a single-country trade embargo), a nation awash with tears and blood from thousands of executions, tens of thousands of political prisoners, concentration camps for gay men, labor camps for those who thought differently, listened to jazz, or even had long hair. He separated families and caused one of the largest political exoduses of the twentieth century. His ego necessitated that he become an "international revolutionary" sacrificing tens of thousands of Cuban lives in adventures in Africa, Asia, and Latin America where he eventually spread his penchant for authoritarianism and governmental cruelty to Nicaragua, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, and Ecuador. He should be remembered for the suffering he caused--all of it preventable. The best way to sum up Castro is to consider that he created an island prison where nobody was allowed to leave without his permission--and for an unbearable number of years most of the world applauded him (human rights groups are no exception: they heaped praise on Castro and his self-reported dubious achievements). It is astonishing that so many people look upon this person and have sympathy or even admiration. He was a cruel and evil man. Sadly, his death will not usher in a wave of reforms. Cuba is now under a different dictator: Raul Castro. Same rancid wine, newer bottle. (c) Thor Halvorssen
